So Long GOP! Don't Let the Door Hit You Where the Good Lord Split Ya!

I have been raised to appreciate the value that comes from work, from patriotism, from being an educated individual.  I was raised by two Republican parents, who I know wanted better for me than they had.  I guess you could say I was indoctrinated to the American Dream, and by all accounts I am a believer in what the Founding Father's established.  It is because of my beliefs and how revered I hold this nation that I am happy to see the GOP failing.
Yes, absolutely I am happy they, the GOPe, are getting push back in the form of Trump and Cruz and the people supporting them.  I am happy, no let me correct myself, I'm ecstatic that the end is looming near for the Republican Establishment!
Do I still consider myself to be a Republican?  Yes and no.  I consider myself to be what the Republicans first established themselves to be; a grouping of people who opposed executive tyranny, supported a free market, a party who was unabashedly unafraid to go against the Democrats.  I do not align myself with this puny excuse of wealthy politicians and lobbyists leading the party today.  I do not support this pitiful, weakened shell of Republicans in Washington who don't understand the plight of the average American.  This weakened group who has caved to the will of the Democrats time and time again.  Republicans who are so well mixed within the Democratic party that you cannot see who stands with the core values that founded the Republican party any more.  I don't want to be associated with this current majority in the Republican party, mainly because I want to fight for what I know to be right.

These SAME Republicans and Elites who are so nervous about losing power that they asked candidates within our own party to sign a pledge to support the eventual victorious nominee.... Now there have been talks that they, the GOPe, would rather lose than have the remaining candidates elected?  That they are preparing to lose this election all to save face, but most of all to save their power.  Lovely.
In the words of my generation, I'm not down with that.
I am not angry that none of the remaining candidates have said they will support the nominee. Why would I be when the leaders that be can't get their affairs in order and support what the people want?  In all likelihood we are heading to a brokered convention and it will be here that we will see the GOPe in top form.  The GOPe will hand deliver THEIR puppet, aka candidate, of choice and it's going to get ugly.  Lord help up all if they try to give us Romney again....

Prevailing Terrorism

Like an open concept floor plan, Europe continues to be a safe-haven for ISIS and their operations.  Partly due to the open border policy and partly due to the blind eye that the government has towards terrorist threats that aren't considered Politically Correct.  Europe knows the danger but is in no way able to confront it nor manage it.... Seriously though, who thinks it is a good idea to publish information of a newly captured ISIS combative?
Now the Taliban in Pakistan, who are trying to remind people how dangerous they are, bombed an Easter Celebration.  All those souls who were lost are gone just for celebrating a different religion in the Middle East.
Sadly, I do believe these kinds of attacks will continue to happen. They will continue until the world, and this includes world leaders, unite against this deadly religious ideology....  And I am sorry to say that we won't have this happen unless we have American leadership on this front who oppose and acknowledge terrorism.

It has taken John Kerry and the Obama administration at least 7 years to publically condemn the slaughtering of Christians when we all knew this was happening in the world.  The proof was right before them but they refused, for whatever reason, to publicly recognize this evil.   Obama in one of his many "I'm going to apologize for the United States" speeches invoked the Crusades and slavery in one of many attempts to take the heat off those who murder in the name of Islam.  It's exceptionally rare for Obama, Kerry, or any one of his cabinet members to condemn violence carried out by ISIS or the Taliban with any passionate rhetoric.  For example, when Obama was addressing the attack in Brussels while in Cuba, he began his speech to those in attendance with, "Please indulge me, I want to comment on the terror attacks that have taken place in Brussels...."  I never would have thought that publically extending our support to an ally is one of indulgence, Mr. President.  Sorry that this terrorist attack occurred while you were laughing it up with a savage dictator.

Do I think the President and his administration enjoys hearing of people being murdered, no, of course not.  I DO believe it is their Political Correct ideology that is preventing them from publicly criticizing religious attacks in the name of Islam.  To do so will undermine EVERYTHING of their narrative and belief system.  The Obama administration is one full of intellectual liberals who are witnessing their hopes of a utopia brought forth by them crumbling at their feet.  They are a collective bunch of cowards.

Brussels Attack

As I write this the death toll is at 31 and 180 people are reported injured after bombs exploded at the airport and subway system.  ISIS is claiming ownership of this new attack on Western civilization, stating this attack is revenge for Mosul.
I waited to hear from Obama... I think I will always be in some way WAITING for our President to say anything of merit... and once he publicly asked for unity to end terrorism I could not have been more angry and less underwhelmed with his passion and him as a leader.   If Obama had just as much, even just a quarter, passion and disdain for terrorism that he does for those who commit senseless acts of gun violence, I think the world would believe and follow our lead in ending terrorism.
His lack of conviction and determination to publicly declare we are dealing with a legitimate threat from ISIS has me just as angry at him as I am with ISIS.  It's almost like Obama doesn't WANT to be bothered with anything to do with terrorism.  He couldn't even lead the US when WE were ATTACKED on our own soil!  All we hear is how much of a racist, bigoted group we are in America.  How we need to be understanding... how any attack on us is essentially what we deserve.
The world is watching, ISIS is watching, and the United State of America is a limp noodle thanks to Obama and his administration.

Why attack Paris and Brussels?  Why not attack Russia?  Simple.  If you attack anyone who is adopting this culture of PC, of not requiring anyone coming in to assimilate, they won't have the heart to retaliate.  If ISIS were to pull this is in Russia, there would be HELL to pay.

I don't think it is coincidental that the attack happened days after the capture of Abdeslam; the attacker from Paris.  I believe it won't be long until we see this connection....

How many more attacks need to happen before world leaders take a serious line against Islamic Terrorism?  Yes, I did say Islamic, because that is exactly what is happening.  These terrorists are using Islam, perverted as it may be, as guidance in their retaliation and justification of their actions.

Pray for those affected.  Pray for those who are elected to lead us.  Pray we elect the best person to lead us out of this enabling PC culture of shame.

The Unexpected Journey of Mohamad Khweis

A family who thought he was "on holiday in Europe," and our American intelligence agency, had no idea that Mohamad Khweis had joined ISIS.  Khweis did turn himself in to the custody of Kurdish forces this week, and is now going to have an intense unknown time of interrogation from numerous intelligence agencies, looking to gain knowledge from this American ISIS defector.
Khweis described himself leaving Virginia to join ISIS with an unnamed woman whose sister is married to an ISIS member.  Once he reached the city of Mosul, life wasn't what he thought it would be saying that, "it was pretty hard to live in Mosul...It's not like Western Countries...there's no smoking".  His day was spent praying, learning Sharia and the Islamic religion for eight hours a day.  Once reality set in for Khweis he wanted to get out of Mosul and back to the US.  Khweis is quoted as saying "I made a bad decision to go with the girl and go to Mosul. At the time I made a decision to go because I wasn't thinking straight, and on the way there I regretted- I wanted to go back."
In all honesty this sounds to me like he had numerous opportunities to return back home to Virginia; between all of the bus rides, overnight stays and plane rides.  He wasn't thinking straight probably because he became infatuated with this woman whose sister was married to an ISIS member.  He probably thought he was going to be "rewarded" from this woman by joining ISIS.  When he wasn't able to do what he wanted, which had to involve smoking, he had what I can only imagine to be a hissy-fit and wanted to go home.
What will happen to him once he comes back to America?  Naturally I would like to see this American, who wasn't on the USA's intelligence watch list, put on trial.  He most assuredly had to have thought that what ISIS could provide was tangible enough to leave the safety of American borders.  He left knowing what the organization stood for.  Everyone knows this is a terrorist group.  He wanted to be a hailed terrorist.  Now let's put him in jail to remember for the rest of his days just what a group like that will lead to.... and that no random person is worth betraying your country.

Virginia Beach and the Case for Light Rail

I want to go into this article with full disclosure:  I am not in favor of the current proposed Light Rail initiative, but let's move forward.
Last night at the Thalia Trinity Presbyterian Church the Thalia Civic League hosted a debate on this issue facing Virginia Beach voters coming up on the November ballot.  John Atkinson and Bryan Plumlee were the lucky souls on stage last night arguing their cases.  (For those who already know Mr. Atkinson's argument, I won't dive into it here, but if you have not heard Mr. Atkinson's argument against light rail please visit http://nolightrail.i264webdesign.net/)

It was a packed house last night and from what I observed the attendees were relatively spilt, but those against light rail were more vocal.  I will admit that I was hoping to hear a better argument from Mr. Plumlee and am still baffled at what he said.  He began by belittling the Pilot and their board for the articles against light rail, called the job the city council does "thankless" and had an introduction that was probably supposed to be funny but that was lost on the crowd.  Plumlee argued that for Virginia Beach to NOT get light rail would in turn be profitable for a select few, that we've already paid for light rail and should be able to ride what we've paid for, how this would help the poor, and unite the two cities.  A question was asked about Virginia Beach getting a bus that could take people riding the Tide the rest of the way, however, moving from the train to a bus would be too complicated in Plumlee's view.
Then began the "millennial" argument for light rail.  ---This is where I about lost my mind.  I dislike millennials being labeled and used as the primary reason to do any project. The argument here from Plumlee in regards to millennials came from an article stating that the millennial crowd was heading to Charlotte and loving the light rail there.... especially because they get to use their devices on the way to work.  I found an interesting article on this topic which essentially says that while millennials cannot afford a house now, eventually they may turn to the ways of all of our parents and want a suburban lifestyle for their family.  To which I will say, please do not base your city and its development on the scare tactic of wanting to attract millennials.  Millenials will come whether or not you have light rail.
(Check out the article here relating to millenials going the way of their parents:   http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/development/article17212757.html )

I believe this project is a huge waste of money and am not for the proposed light rail plan.  I am left to wonder why we, the city of Virginia Beach, aren't learning from the mistakes of our neighboring city of Norfolk and seeing how much of a failure that project is.  Would it be a great thing to have an option to not pay for gas, car insurance, taxes and car maintenance each year?  Absolutely!  That would be wonderful to have those savings, however, this 3 miles of track costing in the millions is not the answer.  Eventually I know the plan is to have the track to go all the way down to the oceanfront, but do we really want to have HRT managing this system?  A huge problem with their transportation now is that it is viewed as unreliable, so why would we want them juggling this as well?  Should we come up to a better system of mass transit, I am sure the state will help fund us, so please don't be too considered over getting that money.
Mass transit will not work here if it is not reliable, and just as quick of an option to work as one's own vehicle.

America's Youth.... Where Have We Gone Wrong?

How is it that I am in my early, VERY EARLY, 30's and I am asking myself "what's wrong with kids nowadays?"  As a child who grew up in the 90's with a mom and dad who made it their business to be involved, this is a topic that is always confusing me.  I look at the majority of people younger than myself and feel like I should be sitting on the front porch yelling at them to stay off my lawn, and turn their music down.... It's such a huge gap of disconnect that I experience.  It's not even with people in their teens, it's people that are just five years younger than myself that I feel this disconnect.
So I find myself digging deep; really trying to reflect and see if I can pinpoint what's causing this wide gap where I rarely see myself connecting with them on important issues.
This election cycle isn't helping either.  Hearing what is important to them is like trying to ignore a needle in my eye, it hurts AND makes no sense.
Free college sounds great, but how do they not know, nor understand, that your taxes are going to be going towards that state sponsored education?  You may not pay for it directly at the campus bookstore or registration office, but your tax rate will reflect it.  There is no fun in having debt, however, your credit is built upon it and you are able to get back some of the interest paid on the loan each year when you file your taxes.
Is the environment an issue, sure it is!  I want my little boy to be able to experience nature at its purest form, but look at these people leading you in the "green" movement.  How "green" are their actions?  You praise people like Al Gore and Obama, but really look at their lifestyle and tell me how they are leading in this movement.  Talk and more government bureaucracy don't count either.   Actions speak louder than words, so seek out their actions.
Marijuana.  This topic drives me CRAZY.  As someone who lives a fairly stressful lifestyle, I can honestly tell you I do not NEED drugs nor alcohol to relax.  It is not even a blip on my radar of things I would consider doing to relax, so hearing people younger, AND sometimes older, than me seeking this stuff out is perplexing.  I witness every single day how these things ruin people, so that is a HUGE motivating factor in me not partaking.... this shouldn't even BE an issue that drives someone to vote an elected official in office.  It just shouldn't.
It is almost like witnessing the "hippie" movement from the 60's all over again, except this time they are technological, ideological hippies.
I again ask myself, where did we go wrong with raising our kids?
Kids being raised in a single parent household not having direction from their parent because they have to work in order to provide for them is an issue. (Special shout out to all the parents making it happen!)  Without a parent or guardian there to help guide children in their early years of development is undoubtedly a problem.  I believe kids are turning to Hollywood and celebrities to show them how to behave.  Which leads them to believe that the only way to be productive and wealthy is to be an entertainer.  Studying the arts is fine, but they need to know there needs to be a Plan B.  Education is key!
I'm also not thrilled with the dumbing down of our students.  In order to be "fair" we have to make it so all kids perform at the same level.  That makes no sense.  No more "F"s because that may hurt someone's feelings?  Please.  Socialism is being taught to be warm and cuddly goodness; forgetting to add that most of our ancestors fled that kind of government control.
Feelings are another problem.  We have conditioned children to not know they are allowed, can, and will fail at something to the point that we have kids murdering one another over not accepting their invitation to a school dance.  Rejection isn't an experience we are teaching them to deal with and that is proving detrimental.
Society has bowed down to progressive thinking and it's ripping our nation apart at the seams.

Newscycles

Last week came and went with a ton of news and thoughts, so let's get to it!

1.  Romney.  You REALLY went out on an unsupportive limb, didn't you?  I understand that you are in the anti-Trump crowd, but how CONSERVATIVE are you at the end of the day?  I remember you saying that we, Americans, should "swallow hard" and just accept this amnesty Obama is pushing for.  That was clue number one for me about how weak of a Republican/Conservative you are.  You want our party to keep conceding to the Democrats instead of fighting for what you believe and know our party values.  Republicans, and all Americans for that matter, should value people wanting to come into this nation LEGALLY, not reward people for bleeding our system dry.
Romney is now the new poster child for the anti-Trump movement because the Establishment's golden child, Rubio, is now suffering the same fate as Bush and is dying a slow death.  Anyone who has been watching the campaign could have told you to leave Trump alone, people are coming to make their own decisions on him.  People don't need you or the Establishment going after him.  We're intelligent enough to make our own decisions, and most have.  Also, if Romney was truly a conservative, why was he gushing about Trump's endorsement while he ran his failed Presidential run?  I am going to argue that Trump was probably still holding more liberal values at that point, but his endorsement was good enough for you then as someone more on the left.  You're not a conservative, Romney.  You are showing the people what you are, and that is a tired and failed candidate who is deeply embedded with the Establishment.  You're a puppet.
     Congratulations!

2.  We're going to have to choose between two candidates at the end of the day for the Republican nomination.  We'll have Cruz or Trump.  Either way, I'm fine because the alternative the Democrats are offering is repulsive.

3.  The Democratic Debate was much ado about the same, just as the Republican Debates.  I want to see something NEW come out of these debates or we should just stop broadcasting them.  How about some better, tougher questions.  NO more "gotya" questions, or this person said this about you how does that make you feel?

4.  Rush Limbaugh is a smart guy.   Maybe if the Establishment had some brain cells left to spare, they would listen to him.  How the Establishment keeps moving away from their base to try and entice "minority" voters should at all levels be insulting.  Listen to Rush, GOPe.  Your candidate, no matter WHO it is at this point, will not be elected.

5.  The Governor of Michigan said the Flint water crisis is "not about money."  To which I will counter that government bureaucracy is pretty much in line with who is giving certain elected officials money or perks, so yes sir, it IS about money.  Plus Michigan is bankrupt, right?    Their Governor is saying he is committed to helping the people of Flint, however, this didn't just happen overnight.  Reports have come out that people complained about this issue for a while and these reports were silenced.  This wasn't a surprise, it is a scandal at an enormous cost to humanity.

6.  Lastly, Nancy Regan passed away.  I hope to leave an impact that she did.  The politics aside, the stories I've heard about how much she was in love with her husband, and he with her, is the paramount of romance.  Rest in Peace and enjoy your time with your husband again.

The Probability of Trump

If the 15th of March will continue along the lines of last night's Super Tuesday, then I do think it is safe to say we will have a match-up of Trump and Clinton running head to head for the office of President.  Now all of those out there who are proposing to not vote in November should Trump be the nominee of the Republican party I have to say that is not the answer.  Doing that would be like all of those who chose NOT to go out and vote for Romney when Obama was given a snowball's chance in Hell.
Honestly to chose not to vote in November based upon Trump being the nominee is completely selfish and short-sighted.  Collectively we, the Republican party, asked him to sign the pledge to not run 3rd party should he not get the nomination.... SO he signed the pledge and those against him were happy.
Now reality is setting in and there is PANIC.  Wide-spread, bring in the Holy Water kind of panic--- that makes me chuckle.  A lot of the "experts"  still have yet to grasp WHY Trump is popular and still maintaining support with all of the blunders and faux pas.  I will admit to at times gazing in amazement in how Trump is still around, but it isn't THAT much of a surprise.
As a whole, the people are unified in their displeasure with the Government, RINOs, and the Republican Establishment.  There have been so many lies and unfulfilled promises told to the Republican voters that a master seamstress wouldn't be able to thread back together the broken trust lost.  Voters are desperate for someone to be straight-forward with them, for someone to have skin thick enough to stand-up against the establishment.
Of course Ted Cruz is supposed to be doing the same, but his reputation is a little less attractive then when the caucuses first started, so that leaves us with Trump.  Rubio has yet to give a viable answer to the Gang of Eight bill, and he is reportedly a pick of the Establishment now that Jeb Bush is gone.  Ben Carson and John Kasich leaving would be interesting because where would those voting for them go?
I understand that there are questions with Trump; being for certain ideologies clearly of the Democrats persuasion now saying he's changed his mind and is running as a Republican.  I understand.  It's not an easy pill to swallow, but look at what we have to lose here.  We are going to be facing Hillary Clinton, and I think most of you would agree with me on that after last night's results.  We need someone who is going to go head to head against her and demolish her.  Has he said some favorable things about Hillary, sure, but show me a Democrat who has supported her and now does not for reasons like Benghazi or her email scandals.  People's opinion does, can, and will change for whatever reason.
This article is not an endorsement of Trump.  I will say that no matter WHO the Republican nominee IS, I will support them.  If the election comes down to Trump and Clinton, I am voting Trump; as should anyone who is tired of what has been going on these past 7 years.
America cannot suffer through any more progressive nonsense, nor anyone who believes Obama has done a terrific job while in office.  Nor can America keep up with the constant barrage of political lines blurring from the Republican establishment.
